The current Republican front-runner in Iowa makes the case for a Human Life Amendment outlawing abortion across the country: a reverse Roe v. Wade.
He makes an interesting argument. He claims the logic behind this Amendment is the same behind the 13th. If abortion is murder, why trust the states to act prudently?

It's not just Huckabee. Such an amendment has been a staple in Republican platforms since 1980. Here's what the 2004 platform says:
"We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and we endorse legislation to make it clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children. Our purpose is to have legislative and judicial protection of that right against those who perform abortions."
